ABOUT BITUMEN

Bitumen shingles are fixed on bitumen-impregnated glass fiber, which connects bitumen to various types of polymer additives making shingles bitumen, strong, and deformity resistant. One of the two bitumen types is used for various brands of bitumen shingles RoofShied:

SBS-modified bitumen is a real breakthrough in the production of roofing material, which raises Bitumen shingles to a whole new level. Now it is possible to use shingles in almost every climate zone. Premium SBS-modified shingles contain styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS), which heights shingles’ solidity and durability, including in subzero temperatures

SBS-modifier is synthetic rubber which makes bitumen flexible, including at low temperatures. The modifier increases heat and frost resistance, elasticity, stress resilience, and durability of bitumen and all roofing material.

The technology: bitumen is modified with special polymers (SBS) changing bitumen properties and making it stronger and more durable.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Higher flexibility and elasticity, which enable bitumen stretch way more than other types of material
  • Low deformity ratio
  • Subzero temperature resistan
  • Durability in various climates

OXIDIZED BITUMEN - is the middle ground featuring a rather high level of resistance to low and high temperatures.

Technology:
Bitumen is oxidized and artificially aged under high temperature (about 270 °С), which increases its durability.

ADVANTAGES:

  • High heat resistance
  • High wind resistance
  • Oxidized-bitumen products cost less
DRESSING COMPOUND

Bitumen shingles’ surface is covered with a decorative dressing compound, which not only adds color but also has some protective qualities, such as UV protection.

Two types of dressing compounds are used for bitumen shingles RoofShield:
